Here is the sensational Oreet. I had to add a clip of Oreet performing because she is master performer. I met this dancer for the first time at Hunter College. I remember that I struggled to see her perform that afternoon in the school lobby but I was stuck taking a philosophy exam. I was bummed out that I missed it that day. But I did get to see her dance in person some other time after that.
Anyhow, here is a great Youtube clip of her performing live at Rakkasah-East. I picked this particular clip because I found it the most fetching among the rest. All her performances are beautifully done, But in this clip I just couldn’t get my eyes off that fire colored veil. Oh, it’s so dreamy, I love it!
Check out the performance here:
I felt the way she uses the fire colored silk veil to begin her performance was brilliant. The colors of the veil reflect off her black costume and vise versa. This is wonderful way to grab the attention of the audience, Ms. Oreet knows her stuff ;-)
As you begin to admire her dance performance itself you first notice her celebratory and charismatic character. Her technique is precise, clean and elegant. I love the way she continues to smile throughout her dance. She contours the music wonderfully with her movements. She uses lots of shapes, grand body movements and charming accents. She works the stage like a diva =D Go Oreet!
For the second number, Oreet gets into a electric drum solo. The song starts off very slow at first and then gradually builds up in tempo. Her drum solo is delightful, its lively, fun and vibrant. I think part of what makes Oreet so wonderful to watch is the fact she always looks like she’s having the greatest time dancing. Her performance personality drives you in, you can’t help but smile back at her (even if you are watching her in video… LOL).
